Unesp Capes – PrInt Project

More Recently, Unesp approved a grant proposal- PrInt: Project of Internationalization through CAPES ( Federal agency to support graduate programs). The main goals of Unesp PrInt project are based on the sustainable development goals from ONU, and aims to enhance current graduate programs, to strengthen international collaborations, to increase Unesp international visibility and expand innovative research projects.

The Project

The present proposal is divided in five main hubs :

1) Emerging Infectious diseases hub: What is going to be the next pandemic? What are the pathogens with greatest potential to emerge and cause disease in the human and/or animals? Are we prepared to deal with these issues? On this research field, we focus on anticipating the discovery of new animal or human pathogens with emerging potential.

2) System Biology and Multi-Omics hub: The data generated from cutting-edge technologies such as RNA sequencing, transcriptome arrays and mass spectrometry have allowed simultaneous investigation of thousands of proteins and genes in single experiments. The integration and analysis of clinical and multi-omics data to identify diseases biomarkers in the main objective of this hub.

3)Georeferencing and spatial analysis hub: The overall aim is to utilize available global data from advanced climate monitoring systems, satellite remote sensing, and natural or human-made environmental change to evaluate their influences on diseases occurrence and assessment of potential mitigation.

4)New drugs hub: Never before has been discussed about the need for new drugs due this chaotic era of the COVID pandemic. This hubs provides research on new medicines based on natural or synthetich products; whole-cell and/or target-based approches as strategies for infectious diseases.

5)Translational and comparative medicine hub: Considering the sustainable development goal (SDG) from UN, this hub aims to develop in vitro and in vivo models of natural diseases for the study of complex diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
