The course was organized by PhD Jeremiah J. Minich and Prof. Todd P. Michael, both from the Salk Institute, along with Prof. Vitor F.O. Miranda, Prof. Daniel G. Pinheiro, and PhD Saura R. Silva from UNESP. The aforementioned course provided an introduction to the fundamental concepts and methodologies employed in the field of microbial ecology, encompassing experimental design, sample processing, and analysis. Furthermore, the course delved into the intricate technical aspects of both 16S and metagenomic analysis utilizing the software application known as “Qiita”, which was made accessible via Qiita.ucsd.edu.
